Hi, I'm a box of fresh barley grass. I was harvested young, when my leaves hold the most natural antioxidants, and I have broad leaves with more in every bite. I'm organic, grown hydroponically in the UAE, pesticide-free and non-GMO. I'm made for adult and senior cats who nibble at their own pace, though I've never turned down a younger admirer. I stay good for about 7 days from harvest, and I intend to make every one of them count.
What's a week like for a box of grass? No two weeks are alike, but here's what me, your cat and you might get up to.
"Your cat gives me a slow blink from across the room, then wanders off. Ten minutes later, they're back, nose first. That's how it goes with barley. Nobody's in a hurry, least of all me."

Harvest morning: I'm harvested the morning I'm delivered, which means I'm still growing when you're brushing your teeth. That's the Sprouties way: harvest on delivery morning, pack fresh and chilled, and send me out the same day. If you'd ordered on a Saturday, this would be Monday, because there are no deliveries on Sundays or UAE public holidays. Either way, I never sit around waiting.
Day 1, afternoon: I arrive between 12 PM and 10 PM, still chilled, the same day I was harvested. Our courier brings me to your door, wherever you are across the seven emirates. Fresh grass is never left unattended, so if you miss the delivery, the courier calls or sends a WhatsApp and the delivery moves by one day. Today, though, you're home. Good.
Day 1, evening: First contact. Your cat sniffs my edges, considers my broad leaves and takes a slow, thoughtful bite. One verified buyer described it well: "wasn't sure if barley grass would be different but it's denser and my cat prefers it over oat." Not every cat will agree, and that's fine. Let your cat decide.
Day 1, night: You find me a spot within reach, near a calm place your cat already likes. You do not water me today. Watering starts two days after the box arrives, never on arrival day. I arrive ready. All I need tonight is a quiet corner and a cat.

Day 2, morning: Still no water, and that's by design. I came prepared for the first couple of days. Your cat pays me a morning visit, nibbles a little, then wanders off to supervise breakfast. This is how barley likes it: little and often, at whatever pace your cat sets. No pressure, no schedule, no audience required.
Enjoy a change? Barley also comes in rotation. The Weekly Digestion Duo pairs it with oat, and the Weekly Vitality Pair with wheat, each with a new grass each week. The Complete Wellness Bundle rotates all three, a box every 10 days. You will find every bundle and its price on our bundles page.
Day 2, evening: In homes with several cats, this is often where my week ends early. A box is usually finished in two to three days when there are a few cats sharing. One verified buyer put it simply: "I have 3 cats they all really like it." If that's your house, more boxes per delivery might help.

Day 3, morning: Watering day. Two days after I arrived, you start the one care habit I ask for: "Add a little water at the base of the box, never on the grass." That is the whole routine. A little water, at the base, and I'll carry on looking after your cat.

Day 3, afternoon: The afternoon sun finds its way across the living room, and your cat follows it, as cats do. I do not. "Keep the box out of direct sun." Your cat can bask on the windowsill all afternoon; I'm happier a few steps away in the shade, within reach for a nibble between naps. A good place for me is somewhere your cat passes often, out of the sun, and close enough that a curious nose can find me without a search party.

Day 4, morning: It's hot outside, so you give the fridge a try. "In the UAE summer, the fridge works well." I come out for nibbling and go back in between visits. One honest note: the fridge keeps me comfortable, but it won't stretch me past my week. About 7 days from harvest is my limit.

Day 4, evening: Your cat is keen today. If they eat a lot at once and bring it back up often, offer the box for 10 to 15 minutes at a time instead. If it happens often, talk to your vet.

Day 5, morning: You open the fridge and your cat appears out of nowhere. As one verified buyer put it: "Fluffy knows the sound of the box now!"
Day 5, afternoon: Halfway through the week, and this is where barley earns its reputation. My broad leaves give more in every bite, which suits adult and senior cats who like to take their time. Your cat doesn't need to finish me in one sitting. They can nibble a little at breakfast, ignore me at lunch and come back for a proper chew in the evening. I don't take it personally. A box of grass is a plant of their own, there whenever they want it, with no need to finish it in one go.

Day 6, morning: I'm still going, though I'm not quite the box I was on day one. That's normal. A box stays good for about 7 days from harvest. Keep up the little water at the base, keep me out of the sun, and I'll see the week through with your cat.
Day 6, afternoon: A good moment to think about the next box. On a single-grass plan, the weekly plan brings four boxes a month, the every-10-days plan three, and the every-2-weeks plan two. Every plan comes with free delivery, and our plans page shows the prices.
Day 6, evening: Not sure barley is your cat's grass? You can change grass any time from your account, and skip, pause or cancel too, with no commitments and no fees. And under the Happy Cats Guarantee, subscribers whose cat doesn't take to a grass get another grass to try, and can have their money back if that one isn't for them either. Tell us within 48 hours of delivery through the form, choosing "Not nibbling yet". Oat and wheat are always happy to step in.
Day 7, morning: Some of my leaves have turned yellow. Some are wilting. That is just the calendar at work.

Day 7, afternoon: When grass yellows or wilts later in the week, it has reached the end of its time, and it can go in the compost. It's been a good week. I've been sniffed, nibbled, chilled, watered at the base and, at one point, sat on. That's a full life for a box of grass. One thing to know: the end of a box's week is just the calendar. If a box ever arrives with a problem, though, tell us within 24 hours of delivery through the Happy Cats Guarantee form, with your order number and a photo of the box, and we send you a new box. That's for arrival day, not day seven.

Day 7, evening: Your cat comes back for one last look. A final nibble, a sniff of the edges, a slow walk away. I like to think it's a thank you. It's probably just a cat. Either way, I go to the compost knowing I was the most interesting plant in the house for a week, which is all a box of grass can ask.

Day 8, morning: If you're on a plan, a fresh box was harvested this morning and is already on its way. If you're not, order today and your box arrives the next day. Remember the Sunday rule: a Saturday order arrives on Monday. One-time orders of two or more boxes come with free delivery, and today's price for a single box is on the barley box page.
Day 8, afternoon: The new box arrives, chilled, between 12 PM and 10 PM. Your cat hears the box open from two rooms away and comes to inspect.

Day 8, evening: A new week begins. The new box gets a spot within reach, out of the sun. No water today: watering starts two days after the box arrives. Your cat settles in for the first nibble of a fresh week, and the whole routine starts again, a little more familiar each time.

And so on: Seven days, one box, one unhurried cat. Then a fresh box, and it all begins again.
Bedtime: Bedtime, any night of the week. Before the lights go out, the box gets its evening check: out of direct sun, within reach. If the house is warm, the fridge works well in the UAE summer. Has it been two days or more since the box arrived? Then add a little water at the base of the box, never on the grass. Your cat may supervise. Barley is for cats who nibble at their own pace, and some like one slow last visit before bed. Then everyone finds their own spot for the night.

Looking back on a week with one box, the routine is simple, and that's the point. A fresh box arrives, your cat inspects it, the days go by in sniffs and nibbles, and then a new box takes its place. If you're on a plan, you can skip, pause, change grass or cancel any time from your account. Whatever next week holds, there's a fresh box of barley in it.
