Care & Freshness
How long will the grass stay fresh?
With proper storage, it stays at peak quality for up to 7 days. Keep it cool and away from direct sun or heat.
Do I need to water the tray?
No. It arrives hydrated and ready. Adding water increases the chance of mold and shortens shelf life.
Can I refrigerate it?
Yes. Refrigeration slows growth and can extend freshness.
How do I store it at home in summer?
Keep it in the coolest spot in your home, away from AC vents that blow hot air. The fridge works great for the UAE summer.
What if there's mold or a smell?
Contact us with a photo and your order number. We'll sort it out—usually with a replacement on your next delivery.
How much should I give my cat per day?
Let them graze naturally. Most cats self-regulate. If your cat overeats and vomits frequently, limit access to 10–15 minutes at a time.
My cat is obsessed and overeats—what do I do?
Some cats go wild at first. Offer the tray for short sessions (10–15 mins) rather than leaving it out all day. They usually calm down after a few days.
What if it turns completely yellow or wilts?
That's your cue to compost it and order a fresh tray. Think of it like feline spinach—fresh is best.

Cat Grass & Health
Is cat grass safe for kittens?
Yes, cat grass is generally safe for kittens over 4 weeks old. Organic, pesticide-free varieties like wheat grass, oat grass, and barley grass are ideal because they contain no chemicals or soil-borne pathogens. Oat grass is the gentlest option for young cats thanks to its soft blade structure and naturally appealing taste. Start with short supervised sessions and let your kitten explore at their own pace.
How often should I give my cat grass?
Most cats benefit from having fresh grass available a few times per week. Cats naturally self-regulate their intake, so you can leave a box out and let them nibble when they feel like it. A fresh box every one to two weeks keeps the grass at peak nutrition and palatability.
Can cats eat wheatgrass every day?
Yes, cats can safely nibble on wheatgrass daily. Wheat grass is rich in chlorophyll and vitamins A, C, and E, making it a supportive addition to their daily routine. Most cats will eat a small amount each day and stop on their own. If your cat is eating large quantities and vomiting frequently, reduce access and check with your vet.
What's the difference between cat grass and catnip?
Cat grass and catnip are completely different plants with different purposes. Cat grass refers to safe, edible grasses like wheat, oat, and barley that cats eat for digestive support, fiber, and essential nutrients. Catnip (Nepeta cataria) is an herb that triggers a temporary behavioral response in about 50-70% of cats. They complement each other well: cat grass supports physical health through nutrition and fiber, while catnip provides mental stimulation.
Does cat grass help with hairballs?
Fresh cat grass supports healthy hairball management. The insoluble fiber in grass helps move ingested fur through the digestive tract naturally, reducing uncomfortable buildup. Wheat grass and barley grass are particularly effective: wheat grass is rich in chlorophyll and supports natural detox pathways, while barley grass has the highest fiber content of the three common varieties.
Why is my cat eating grass and throwing up?
Occasional vomiting after eating grass is normal feline behavior. Cats sometimes use grass to help clear their stomach of indigestible material like fur or feathers. The grass blades can tickle the stomach lining, triggering a natural purging reflex. This is not usually a cause for concern unless it happens frequently. To minimize this, offer softer varieties like oat grass, which is gentler on the stomach. If vomiting is persistent or your cat seems unwell, consult your veterinarian.
Is hydroponic cat grass better than soil-grown?
Hydroponically grown cat grass offers several advantages over soil-grown varieties. Without soil, there is no risk of mold, fungal growth, or soil-borne bacteria that cats could ingest. Hydroponic growing also means no pesticides are needed, resulting in a cleaner, safer product. The controlled growing environment produces more consistent quality and nutrition compared to soil-based methods, which can vary with conditions. All Sprouties grass is organically and hydroponically grown in the UAE for maximum freshness and safety.
How do I store fresh cat grass to keep it lasting longer?
Keep your fresh cat grass box in a bright spot with indirect sunlight and water it lightly every 2-3 days. Avoid direct sun, which can dry out the blades quickly, especially in the UAE climate. Room temperature is fine. A well-maintained box typically stays fresh for 7-10 days. For the freshest experience, a subscription plan delivers new boxes on a regular schedule so your cat always has peak-nutrition grass available.
